SWFBUD is a purposeful play on words of the Swiftmud water agency and stands
for South West Florida Bicycle United Dealers. We're 7 Tampa Bay-area bike shops
united behind bicycle advocacy.

SWFBUD represents the collective voice of the Carrollwood Bicycle Emporium,
Oliver's Cycle Sports in new Tampa, Revolution Bicycles in St. Petersburg, Chainwheel
Drive in Clearwater, Bicycle Outfitters in Seminole, Suncoast Trailside Bicycles
in Odessa and University Bicycle Center in North Tampa.

SWFBUD promotes bicycling by staging the annual Bicycle Bash by the Bay,
lobbies local government officials to commit resources to improve bicycle conditions
and serves as a watchdog for bicyclists.

For example, SWFBUD lobbied Hillsborough County commissioners to earmark
money to connect the Upper Tampa Bay Trail with the Suncoast Trail, which would
make that the longest continuous trail in the state of Florida.

SWFBUD forced a private developer to remove a concrete traffic island from
a bike lane on Fletcher Avenue near the Telecom business center east of the USF
college campus.

SWFBUD has lobbied the DOT to stripe more bike lanes and designate space
on the side of roads for bike lanes.

SWFBUD attended the 2008 National Bike Summit in Washington, D.C. to lobby
Congress to make our roads, trails and public spaces more hospitable to bicyclists.

If you have a bicycle issue that needs to be addressed, contact SWFBUD director
Alan Snel at alansnel@yahoo.com or bikesnel@tampabay.rr.com.
